WELCOME TO YOGA

Yoga is so much more than stretching.

Yoga is an opportunity to strengthen your body, calm your mind, improve the way you move and create a little more space in your life.

You don’t need to be flexible.
You don’t need to be fit.
You don’t need to know the poses.

You simply need to begin.

THE PHYSICAL BENEFITS

A regular yoga practice can help you:

• Improve flexibility and mobility
• Build strength
• Improve balance and coordination
• Develop greater body awareness
• Support good posture
• Maintain healthy movement as you get older
• Improve core strength and stability
• Release physical tension
• Move with greater ease and confidence
• Develop better breathing awareness

Yoga works with the whole body.

Sometimes the changes are subtle at first — until one day you realise you can move more freely, balance more easily or do something that once felt impossible.

THE MENTAL BENEFITS

Yoga gives your mind somewhere to settle.

By bringing your attention to your body, movement and breath, yoga encourages you to come back into the present moment.

Regular practice may help you:

• Feel calmer
• Reduce everyday stress
• Improve concentration
• Develop greater body awareness
• Create mental space
• Slow down racing thoughts
• Feel more grounded
• Improve your ability to relax
• Develop greater resilience

Yoga is one of those rare forms of exercise where doing less can sometimes give you more.

THE EMOTIONAL BENEFITS

Yoga can help us reconnect with ourselves.

Life can be busy. We spend so much time thinking, planning, worrying, caring for other people and rushing from one thing to another.

Your yoga practice gives you permission to stop.

To breathe.

To notice how you feel.

To move without judgement.

And to spend a little time simply being present in your own body.

THE SHORT-TERM BENEFITS

You don’t have to practise yoga for years before you begin to feel the benefits.

Even one class can leave you feeling:

• More relaxed
• Less physically tense
• Calmer
• More grounded
• Gently energised
• More aware of your breathing
• More connected to your body
• Proud that you made time for yourself

Sometimes you arrive at yoga carrying the whole day with you.

And you leave feeling just a little lighter.

THE LONG-TERM BENEFITS

With regular practice, yoga can become something much bigger than a weekly exercise class.

You may gradually develop greater strength, flexibility, mobility and balance.

But you may also begin to notice something else.

You become better at listening to your body.

You recognise when you need movement and when you need rest.

You notice your breathing when you become stressed.

You become more comfortable slowing down.

And the things you practise on your yoga mat can begin to follow you into everyday life.

YOGA AND YOUR BREATH

Breathing is at the heart of yoga.

When we practise yoga, we begin to notice how we breathe and how our breath changes with movement, effort, emotion and relaxation.

Rather than forcing the breath, we learn to become curious about it.

The breath can become an anchor — something we can return to whenever life feels busy.

Move. Breathe. Notice.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE FLEXIBLE TO DO YOGA

This is one of the biggest misconceptions about yoga.

Flexibility is not a requirement.

It’s simply one possible result of practising.

Every body is different. Our anatomy, age, previous injuries, lifestyle and natural mobility all influence how a yoga pose looks and feels.

Your pose does not need to look like anybody else’s.

Yoga is not about making your body fit the pose.

We adapt the pose to fit your body.

YOGA IS NOT A COMPETITION

There is no winning in yoga.

There is no prize for touching your toes.

The person next to you may have practised for twenty years — or twenty minutes.

Your job is simply to notice your own body.

Some days you may feel strong and energetic.

Other days you may need to slow everything down.

Both are yoga.

WHAT A YOGA CLASS GIVES YOU

A good yoga class gives you time and space to:

• Move your whole body
• Develop strength and mobility
• Explore balance
• Stretch and release tension
• Connect movement with breathing
• Relax
• Switch off from everyday demands
• Learn more about your own body
• Leave feeling better than when you arrived

And you never have to perform.

You can rest.

You can modify a pose.

You can take a break.

You can simply breathe.

YOUR YOGA PRACTICE BELONGS TO YOU

Some people come to yoga because their back feels stiff.

Some want to become stronger.

Some want help managing stress.

Some want to improve their flexibility.

Some love the relaxation.

And some simply enjoy having an hour each week when nobody needs anything from them.

There is no wrong reason to begin.

REMEMBER

You don’t need to touch your toes.

You don’t need expensive leggings.

You don’t need to know Sanskrit.

You don’t need to be calm before you arrive.

And you definitely don’t need to be “good at yoga.”

Yoga meets you exactly where you are.

Come as you are.

Move.

Breathe.

Rest.

And allow your practice to grow with you.

Stronger body. Calmer mind. Deeper breath. More connection.

Welcome to yoga.
